The fish pictured are juveniles. Lethrinops sp. Mbasi males develop stunning electric blue coloration as they mature, especially during breeding displays. Females remain more neutral in tone, with soft silver or beige hues that help highlight the males' brilliance.
This species is peaceful compared to many other Malawi cichlids, making them a great choice for less aggressive setups or species-specific tanks.
Lethrinops sp. Mbasi appreciate sandy substrate and plenty of open swimming space, mimicking their natural environment. Avoid overly aggressive tank mates to help them thrive and display their best colors.
